Two weeks have passed since my wonderful start of this journey. I've been to the Y a few times, done a class or 2. I'm quite fond of the aquatics class they offer. I don't know why but it just makes me laugh. The instructor tells you to Kick, Kick, Kick, and as she's doing that I'm sorta just floating, can't get my leg down to kick with the instructions. Made me laugh. I did a Low impact class as well. That kicked my ass, I actually had to walk out halfway through. I finished that second half hour on the treadmill, got a mile and a half out of it. I've also done a step class. This class by far is my LEAST favorite class of all time. I just can't do stairs. My knee is bad, and it starts to throb with the bending and climbing. Not a fan. So onto how I died today. I'll tell you. It was a 3 mile round trip hike up a mountain that I swear was a freaking 90 degree angle (of course I'm exaggerating) but man it sure felt like a straight arrow up to the top. I was dying. it was a warm day, it was my first time and I died. I stopped about 6 times to catch my breath, I got lightheaded and dizzy a couple times and pretty hot. After about an hour we finally reached the top. It was a very nice view. I also threw up once we reached the top. Not like real vomit, I heaved up a bit of spit really. Not terrible and i was able to conceal my heaving self in some bushes, so I didn't gross anyone out or call attention to myself. It was horrible. After finally cooling myself down enough to get up and walk some more, I was made to pose for a picture at the top by the "yay your fat ass made it to the top, but you don't get a medal or anything, but you can touch this copper looking plaque" so I posed, I mean why not. I DID make it after all. And I really thought of turning back a couple times. The trip down was much faster and sooo easy, took maybe 15 minutes. I felt like I burned a million calories.
And now for my update. After doing all these things I can't say I lost a whole lot of weight. I HAVE been eating better. Following my weight watchers points and hitting the gym more often. I feel its easier for me to keep at it while my kids are back in school. Its harder for me when they are home because I am not a morning person. I never have been, so when I don't have to get up early, I don't. I sleep in till 10 o'clock and sometimes even later. But when the kids are in school I have to get up early. This enables me to follow my daily diet better. I get my early morning snack, I eat breakfast, I have my mid morning snack, then lunch, my afternoon snack, then dinner, and finally my nighttime snack. Its vital that you eat first thing in the morning, to get your metabolism jump started. I miss that jump start when I sleep till 10. SO I've been doing better.
My weigh in tonight at around 5:30 p.m. was 205.1. I'm happy with that for the time being. Its not 211 which is what I started at when I joined weight watchers in December. My more immediate goal is to be under 200 by my birthday which is March 8th. Our Submarine birthday ball is March 23rd, so I won't lie, if I can get to 190 by then I'll be tickled pink. Here are my mug shots for this blog entry, so like I said before, Don't eat anything while looking at these pictures. I'd hate to see you gag on your burrito.

New year, New me
There comes a time in every woman's life where she hears those dreaded 3 words. "Mom, your fat" And you can always trust a 9 year old child to be as honest as possible. You can also trust that 9 year old to recruit her 7 year old sister and 4 year old brother into saying the same thing. So, with that said, I can't say they are wrong. I am fat. I've gained a lot of weight as a stay at home mom. Now, don't get me wrong. I really LOVE being able to stay home with my kids. Yes, they drive me batty, and holy hell do I want to run far, far away some days. BUT, I am so very grateful that my husband provides this life for us enabling me this opportunity. I am always available for class parties, if I get a phone call from school that my kids are sick or hurt, I don't have to leave work or call in sick or any of that stuff. I'm accessible to my children 24/7. BUT, the lack of work in addition to 3 pregnancies and 3 c-sections has taken its toll on my body. Before I got married I was a full time employee, I moved around and walked a lot, I lifted heavy items and was un-intentionally using portion control with my eating habits. I mean there's only so much you can eat on a 15 minute break. So back to my original story.
My kids called me fat. I am gonna change that. I've gotten in with a "crowd" ( I say it like that to make you think its BAAAD, lol) but no, its not bad. A wonderful group of ladies that live in my neighborhood have started a Weight Watchers group. We attend our monthly meetings together, get our weigh ins together, some of us go grocery shopping together and we share recipes and pictures of our prepared food to support each other. Its nice to have recipes and ideas for low calorie, well portioned foods from a different perspective, the same thing gets boring. I even went as far as to take the next step. I also joined the YMCA. Not only do I have gym access pretty much anytime I want, they also offer free childcare. So its like a win-win situation for me. When my kids get me to the point I feel like I'm going to crack, I can take em to the childcare, and run away my frustration in the gym. The perfect plan, right? Lets hope so. So This starts my blog for my new journey, I'm going to lose 60 lbs by summer. Can I do it? Maybe. Is it likely, well no, probably not, but you never know, I do have an amazing group of ladies to support me, I have the resources and I have the motivation, so stay tuned, I will update every week what I did and what results I got. I will also put up a picture, so..... don't eat food when you read this... ;)
